1) Enrollment Qualifications
Any corporation and individual are eligible for the JCAW membership if they conduct business, are a professional or hold public office in the Washington, D.C. area, i.e., Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and support the goals of the JCAW. A corporation not engaged in business in the Washington, D.C. area is eligible for non-DMV corporate membership. Please be noted that enrollment for membership is subject to Board of Directors review and approval. Be aware that most communications including reports, events, etc. are usually in Japanese.
2) Membership Types and Annual Fees (From 2023) Notice of of new membership dues for 2023
- Corporate Membership A: Corporation with a parent organization in Japan – $1,200（Board Director – $1,800）
- Corporate Membership B: All other corporate members aside from Corporate Membership A – $720（Board Director – $960）
- Individual Membership: – $120
- When the quantity of members with the corporate membership A exceeds 8 people and the membership B exceeds 5 people, each additional member will cost an additional $55.
- If you enroll partway through the year (January to December) your initial annual fee will be calculated as follows, according to when you join:
Jan 1 – Mar 31: full year’s membership fee
Apr 1 – Jun 30: 9 months of membership fee
Jul 1 – Sep 30: 6 months of membership fee
Oct 1 – Dec 31: 3 months of membership fee - In the event you withdraw your membership partway through the year, annual fees already paid will not be refunded.
- JCAW handles fees and contributions as separate charges. We request contributions separately from fees for events such as regional cooperation activities or the Shinshun Matsuri.
3) Membership Enrollment Application
To apply for the membership, you must obtain the recommendation of two (2) existing JCAW members (one of whom must be a current board member).
Those interested in submitting a membership application, please contact our Executive Office (office@jcaw.org) or our Membership Director. After the application is approved at the monthly Board of Directors meeting, you will be enrolled immediately. We will send your welcome packet and the ID/password needed to browse the member registry via email at a later date.
