Members Networking Events: The most prominent event in the Association’s year is the Shinshun Matsuri (“New Year’s Festival”). We ring in the traditional Japanese New Year to promote friendship among our members, cultural exchange with the American people, and to offer a new understanding of Japan. In 2015, it will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park, which will give us more room to grow. This event has over 1,500 attendees annually and is a highlight of the local cultural calendar.
JCAW also holds sports events such as golf competitions, and tennis tournaments several times a year to increase interaction among our members.
In conjunction with the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), we hold “J-Film” screenings once a month to promote understanding of Japanese culture. After each film screening, a reception is held, offering an opportunity for those attending to interact and discuss the film.
Seminar Events: We host monthly workshops and lectures conducted by experts in the fields of Japanese-American politics, economics, trade and others. These events are open to our members and the public.
Cultural Exchange Activities: We hold Japanese-American Exchange Meetings in Washington, D.C.
Community Relations Activities: In coordination with the JCAW Foundation (JCAWF), we provide financial support for organizations and projects relevant to Japan, in order to enhance presence and cooperation of Japanese community in the society in Washington D.C. area.
Public Relations: We publish our Newsletters 10 times a year. These Newsletters offer support and communication with members and Japanese in the Washington, D.C. area and are available to non-members on our website.
