Parking: The Washington Marriott Wardman Park’s parking spaces may be close to FULL all day on Sundays during this season. There are limited parking spaces at the hotel. We will provide discount parking vouchers at the parking Kiosk outside of the hotel main entrance, though we strongly recommend taking public transportation to the hotel.

On February 2 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, the Japanese New Year’s Festival co-sponsored by the Japan Commerce Association of Washington, D.C. and JCAW Foundation, Inc. will be held at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park. There will be four areas where various activities, such as Performances, Cultural Activities and Games, delicious Japanese festival specialties in the Food Court, and Toys and Sweets for Purchase.

SHINTO, the indigenous Japanese spirituality is the soul of Japan which finds countless deities in all things in great nature and the universe. A certified Shinto priestess Rev. Kuniko Kanawa of Kamunabi Banyu Ko-Shinto Shrine offers personalized Shinto ceremonies for your happiness and prosperity in 2020. It is open to anyone who maintains reverence and respect to the Shinto ceremony. Approximately 10 minutes per ceremony.
*The ceremony is NOT a part of this New Year Festival program. Please apply to Miko shrine maiden with $25 (cash or PayPal) if you wish to participate.

The local member restaurants of national Sushi Society will compete to offer the most delicious Japanese foods. Various foods with hot rice cakes will also be served. Don’t miss the demonstration of Rice Cake Production with a mortar and pestle!
