Parking: The Washington Marriott Wardman Park’s parking spaces may be close to FULL all day on Sundays during this season. We will provide discount parking vouchers at the reception, though there are limited parking spaces at the hotel. We strongly recommend taking public transportation to the hotel.

On January 27 from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm, the Japanese New Year’s Festival co-sponsored by the Japan Commerce Association of Washington, D.C. and JCAW Foundation, Inc. will be held at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park. There will be four areas where various activities, such as Performances, Cultural Activities and Games, delicious Japanese festival specialties in the Food Court, and Toys and Sweets for Purchase.

Shinto Ceremony
Shinto is the indigenous religion of Japan which senses spirituality in all creation of the universe and all nature. 8 million (means countless) deities are the subject to have faith in.
The Rev. Kuniko Kanawa, humbly became a certified Shinto priestess in 2015 through the independent training by Amano-Iwakura-jingu in Hiroshima prefecture, will conduct a personalized Shinto ceremony for your happiness. Shinto ceremony accepts any religious believer, however, please be advised that this is a religious ceremony and participants are required to be respectful. The ceremony will take approximately 15 minutes.
The ceremony is NOT a part of New Year festival program. If you wish to participate in the ceremony, please contact the Rev. Kuniko Kanawa at the site. $25 (cash or Paypal) contribution is required.

The local member restaurants of national Sushi Society will compete to offer the most delicious Japanese foods. Various foods with hot rice cakes will also be served. Don’t miss the demonstration of Rice Cake Production with a mortar and pestle!
